Kiryu's inconsistent relationship with Ichiban and his friends
Before I start, I want to clarify that this post is not about complaining, since I really liked how Kiryu related to the other characters, but that doesn't take away from the fact that their relationship is a little inconsistent, so I want to know what you think about it. The first time I played Yakuza 8, I saw something that left me quite confused. In Ichiban and Saeko's date at the beginning of the game, Ichiban tells Saeko "I'm not as strong as Kiryu-san" then, it turns out that when Ichiban and Kiryu meet in Hawaii, they talk as if they have been good friends for a long time, and later, Kiryu talks to Ichiban's friends, implying that they have known each other for a long time as well. What's strange here? Kiryu never exchanges a single word with Ichiban's friends, and at no time does he mention his name to them either. It is assumed that after the brief meeting between Kiryu and Ichiban in Yakuza 7, Kiryu returns to lock himself in the Daidoji temple until he went to Hawaii. The only explanation I can think is that Seonhee revealed Kiryu's identity to everyone at some point between Yakuza 7 and 8, but considering how much admiration she has for him, it seems strange that she would reveal his identity, knowing that would get him in trouble. What do you think?
